Wellspring Retreat - August 2023

A long weekend retreat of yoga, breathwork, and meditation to tap into the wellspring of your being, and into the wellspring of life.

Thursday, August 10th - Sunday, August 13th in Northwest Oregon with Tai Hubbert, E-RYT.

An Invitation to retreat

You are invited to 4-days in personal retreat – an opportunity to take pause from the demands and routines of everyday life – and reconnect to what is most essential and alive within you. Through the practices of yoga, meditation, and breathwork, and with the essential medicine of being in community and in Nature, my intention is to offer an experience that will “fill your cup” and quench the parched places within.

Our days will begin in silence with meditation, followed by an opportunity to awaken more fully in your body with Hatha Flow Yoga. In the afternoon, we will explore expanded states of awareness with breathwork journeying, in service of deeper healing, insight, and connection to Self. There will be an ecstatic dance party for those wanting to MOVE, and plenty of downtime to rest and enjoy as you wish – perhaps a hike to the swimming reservoir or nap in the sun.

Our retreat sanctuary is a 20-acre oasis in the Columbia River basin that’s home to old-growth cedar groves, blue herons, and open meadows. Beautifully appointed yet rustic, the retreat center invites an experience that is equal parts soulful summer camp and contemplative retreat.

I look forward to sharing a rich and beautiful time with you in retreat, and being filled up by the true wellspring of our source.

REtreat Schedule

*The schedule is subject to shift; please take this as general reference!

RETREAT VENUE & LOCATION:

Our home for the retreat is a beautiful 20-acre property in Northwest Oregon – a lush oasis nestled in the verdant watershed of the Columbia River basin, and home to old-growth cedar groves, blue herons, open meadows, and a bubbling creek.

The Event Barn features a 2,400 square foot main floor and 1,000 square foot loft for our practice. It is temperature controlled with both heat and A/C, and features an excellent sound system, couches for relaxing and connecting, and large garage doors that open to the outdoors.

While the Retreat House and all accommodations are comfortable and stylishly-appointed, some accommodation options are more “camping” style, and depending on the weather, dining will be at outdoor tables with a picnic vibe. The Main House has two bathrooms, and there is an outdoor shower area with two private stalls (and portable toilets), available to all staying in the cabins and glamping tents. Please set your expectations accordingly to have a more flexible and fluid retreat weekend in Nature!

Meals & Dining: We will enjoy a fully catered retreat program, with three nourishing meals daily, along with coffee, tea, and snacks. The all-inclusive rates include dinner on Thursday through lunch on Sunday, and you can expect primarily gluten-free cuisine with emphasis on veggies and proteins. Special diets, including vegetarian and vegan, can easily be accommodated. Please note your dietary preferences and/or allergens on the Retreat Intake.

ACCOMMODATIONS & RATES:

Rates listed are all-inclusive and include all retreat programming (yoga, meditation, and breathwork sessions), 3-nights lodging, all catered meals (Thursday dinner – Sunday lunch) and snacks, bed + bath linens, and taxes. They do not include transportation to/from the retreat venue.

If you have any questions about room options, please email me at tai (at) swordandlotus.com.

RETREAT HOUSE

The retreat house features four bedrooms, each comfortably appointed with high-quality cotton bedding, closet space, natural views, and original artwork. There are two full bathrooms in the retreat house on the first floor, next to the Forest, Orchard, and Moon rooms, and the Sky room is upstairs. There is a living room, reading nook, two decks, a spacious kitchen with large kitchen table. All Retreat House rooms have both heat and A/C.

GLAMPING TENTS (x4)

For a more rustic experience, the retreat center features four 300-square foot glamping bell tents: Sumac, Elderberry, Comfrey, & Yarrow. Each has two XL single beds appointed with high-quality cotton bedding, duvets, fleece and wool blankets, bedside tables, Moroccan poufs, luggage racks, reading chairs, and windows with screens.

Please note: The glamping tents DO NOT have electricity, heat, or air conditioning. In the summer, the tents can be quite hot during the day, so you might choose to relax in the main buildings with A/C (Event Barn or Retreat House).

You will find solar and battery-powered lights in each tent, but they are dim. It is recommended to bring a headlight and an external charger for your phone.

A private, two-stall outdoor shower and portable toilets are a short walk and available to everyone in the glamping tents. You are also welcome to use the Retreat House showers and bathrooms.

Single Rate: $1,400 per person - AVAILABLE

Double Rate: $1,100 per person - AVAILABLE

FAQ:

How do I register with a friend or partner? I recommend paying your deposits together and selecting quantity “2” when selecting your room to ensure there are two beds available in your desired room. If you want to check on room availability before registering, you can email me directly at tai (at) swordandlotus.com and I can help coordinate.

Do I need to participate in all programs? No. This is YOUR weekend to renew and rejuvenate, and you are welcome to skip sessions as desired.

Can my special diet be accommodated? Yes. This retreat will be catered with an emphasis towards veggies, proteins, and gluten-free cuisine. Most special diets, including gluten-free and vegan/vegetarian can be accommodated. Please note your preferences (and any allergens) on the Retreat Intake form, which will be emailed upon your registration.

How many bathrooms and showers are on property? There are two full bathrooms in the Retreat House on the first floor, and a private, two-stall outdoor shower and several (nice) portable toilets on property. A bathhouse is currently under construction, and will possibly be ready by the time of our retreat. Please be prepared for a more rustic experience in that regard, and plan to take shorter showers to ensure everyone can enjoy one.

Do I need to bring my own yoga props? For those driving to the retreat, yes please! The retreat center has about 20 yoga mats available, but if you have one, please bring it, along with yoga props including (2) blocks, a strap, and anything you need to be comfortable during breathwork journeys (blanket and pillow). A complete recommended packing list will be emailed to you before the retreat. If you are flying or don’t have your own yoga props, please let me know and I’ll do my best to round some up for you!

Is there parking on property? Yes. There is plenty of parking available on property, and instructions will be sent upon registration.

Is there WiFI on property? Yes, WiFi is available in and around the Retreat House, although you are strongly encouraged to “disconnect to connect” during the retreat.

Covid Considerations. I request that all participants take a home Covid test the morning of Thursday, August 10th, and refrain from engaging in large group/high risk activities the week prior. For those flying to the retreat, I request that you wear a mask en route, including in ground transportation, airports, etc. I also recommend travel insurance should you need to cancel last-minute due to Covid. While the venue is extremely well-ventilated and we’ll likely have windows and doors open, there is inherent risk of contracting Covid in a group retreat context, and particularly one that involves group breathwork practices. Please register with that understanding and assumption of risk.

Weather Considerations. August is one of the loveliest months in the Pacific Northwest, and temperatures in Oregon average in the low 80’s during the day and mid-50’s at night. However, temperatures can spike, so please plan to stay hydrated and healthy in the heat. The Retreat House and Event Barn both have A/C should you need a cool place to relax. In the unfortunate event that extreme temperatures or wild fires are happening at the time of the retreat, I reserve the right to cancel to ensure the wellbeing of all guests. If this happens, you will receive a refund and/or opportunity to attend a rescheduled retreat date.

Smoking, drugs, and alcohol. Please note that this retreat will be free of drugs and alcohol, including cannabis. Smoking is not allowed in any indoor space and only outside in areas 30 feet away from structures.
